Cafes and Desserts

One thing about me is that I LOVE desserts and so I was especially looking forward to Korean cafes. Before coming here, I spent a lot of my free time just watching Korean cafe vlogs on YouTube, and the drinks and desserts they made looked so good. There are cafes and bakeries everywhere in Seoul, and I actually live pretty close to Yeonnam, which is an area full of cafes. I’ve been to a lot of different places during the semester, here are just a few of my favorites.
Ikseondong
This is an area near Insadong composed of alleyways that are just filled with cafes and restaurants. My favorite things here include the cake conveyer belt at Nakwon and the cafes with more traditional teas and desserts.
Eunpyeong
We had the afternoon tea set at Space Helena. It was for two people and came with 2 pots of tea, sandwiches, cake, yogurt, scones, and more. Another cafe was 1인1잔, which had a lot of unique desserts and a great view of the hanok village.
Yeonnam
Yeonnam is an area right next to Hongdae. We went to Koriko Cafe, which is Kiki’s Delivery Service themed (and also sells Studio Ghibli merch). We also went to Cheongsudang, which had a both modern and traditional atmosphere. There was a mini waterfall outside and stone tiles inside; you could also choose to sit on the floor on mats. We ordered a 3-tier dessert tray that had matcha cake, sesame cookies, and a meringue topped with fruits. Another good place in Yeonnam is Cha Cha Tea, where you can brew your own tea and also has a nice view of Hongdae.
Spy x Family Collaboration cafe
This cafe was located in the Aniplus store in Hapjeong. They sold Spy x Family themed desserts and drinks and also had a special set menu that changed every couple of weeks. I got the Anya waffle set and it came with a small Anya towel and card.
